Mens training update

Published on 29 September, 2011 by in News

Because I seem to have an aversion to taking on board written communication I had previously put an erroneous time on the mens training page for the 3s, 4s, 5s and 6s training. Training for all men’s teams is 8.30pm on Wednesdays at the club astro. Sorry to Tom W for causing inconvenience to him due to this error, and to anyone else affected. The correct time has now been added to the Training Page.

Mens round up 24th September, 2011

Published on 26 September, 2011 by in News

So we come to the first full week of men’s league fixtures, and it was a weekend of goals! The 1st XI were teed up with a tough one, against an Ipswich 2nd XI. Last season had seen honours shared in a hard fought draw, so the boys were braced for a tight game. The first half played out to expectation, with Broxbourne edging it 2-1 at half-time courtesy of goals from Rob Dyer and, Tom Evans. The 1s have spent a good portion of pre-season focusing on fitness work and it paid dividends in the second half as they

Ladies weekend round up 24th September

Welcome to the first all league match weekly round up. A mixed weekend of results, the 3s were the only team to take home all 3 points, the 1s came back to earn a draw, whilst the 2s, 4s and 5s all took home silver medals. The 1s had been hoping to play their game against Old Loughts on the swanky blue and pink Olympic training pitches (aka smurfturf) but delays in the laying of the pitch meant the game was moved to nearby Chigwell School. This presented the first challenge of the day which was actually finding the pitch, reminded

Ladies weekly round up – 17th September

It may have been a different week but Saturday saw the same outcome as last week…same results, it’s just the scores that changed. Both the 1s and 3s enjoyed wins whilst the 2s, 4s and 5s were runners up in their games. 1s kicked off their league campaign with a good 3-0 win over Crostyx at home (i bet they were cross when they lost), goals coming from Shrimpy, Miranda and player of the match Kay Finch, seems the new formation is working a treat. Some confusion over who was crowned donkey, my mole in the team couldn’t quite remember,

Mens friendly round-up 17th Sept

and so to another quick summary of this weekend’s action. We managed to get 5 of the supposed 6 teams out this weekend, so going on the growth between this week and last, we should actually be on for 8 teams next week, but something tells me that is not very likely! Fingers crossed everyone comes out of the woodwork so that we can get that 6th XI out… :-s Anyway, on to the action from this weekend, and as you’ll see, it was another mixed week for the men’s section, at least it looks like it will be an

Men’s friendlies w/e 10th Sept, 2011

As with the women’s section, we are planning a weekly update of the men’s results, and hopefully interesting tidbits. With the cricket season in the last throes of full swing, and a couple of other administrative issues playing their part, we were limited to putting out 3 teams this weekend, 1st XI, 4th XI, and 5th XI, all playing at home. The 5th XI kicked the day off at 10.30am with a 4-3 win over the Saffron Walden 6th XI. With a raft of youngsters playing, the hockey was full of slick passing and movement if a little naivety, both
