Broxbourne Summer League

The Broxbourne Summer Hockey Leagues were founded in 1998 when Sue & Dean Webb and Elaine & Duncan Cogdell decided over a fish and chip supper that it might be a jolly good idea.

So Sue (aka Pearl) and Dean went away with their organising heads on – both being Broxbourne HC’s fixture secs at the time – then tried to drum up some support for the new initiative.

We started in 1998 with just men’s and women’s leagues, adding the mixed league the following year, then a website the year after that – hand-scripted in those ‘Life Before Children’ days!

We now live in Cambridgeshire with our two children, four cats and a fish called Austin. However, we are proud to be vice presidents of Broxbourne HC – the club we both first played for from the age of 13.

We are always happy to hear from clubs who would like to be a part of the summer leagues – just get in touch…

I am sad to report to demise of Austin the Goldfish.

However, we do now have a fifth cat (unrelated to the aforementioned piscatorial demise…) -a ginger ninjapuss called Hobart.

Hi folks hope you are both well, glad to hear you are increasing the Feline numbers in Cambridgeshire, I’m doing the same in Luton, now up to 5 cats as well, with a 6th stray on the way?

      All the best
