Men’s Vets in EH Plate Quarter Finals this weekend

The Men’s Vets are off to the south coast on Sunday as they take on Bournemouth in the quarter finals of the England Hockey Men’s Master’s Plate (Over 40′s). Following wins so far over Letchworth, Phoenix and a 3-1 victory over Sudbury in the last round, this is the furthest the team have got in the competition and they’ll be looking to book their place in the semi-finals  in two weeks time. The match kicks off at 13:30 at Chapel Gate, Christchurch

REPORT: GB Olympic stars are inspirational visitors

From the Hertfordshire Mercury View the Photo Gallery By Alasdair Gold TWO of Great Britain’s Olympic bronze medal-winning women’s hockey team were the star guests at Broxbourne Hockey Club’s open day on Saturday. GB captain Kate Walsh and midfield maestro Helen Richardson, along with their medals, were very popular with the clubs members young and old. Broxbourne were one of only a handful of clubs across the country to be awarded a Great Britain player visit as part of the Harvester Club Weekend, which see clubs open their doors to potential new recruits and to people just wanting to give hockey

Level 1 Coaching Assistant Award

Interested in getting a coaching qualification? The next Level 1 course will be held in Chelmsford in September and is  now open for bookings.  Download more information & an application form. Closing date 3rd August The course is suitable for those with some experience of playing hockey and, perhaps, of helping in a coaching or teaching environment e.g. Community Sports Coaches. The minimum age for attendance is 16 years (it is recommended that candidates who are under 18 years of age attend a Leadership Course first). England Mixed Hockey Trials

May 20th & 27th at Broxbourne HC. The England Mixed Hockey trials are being held on Sunday 20th and Sunday 27th May 2012 at Broxbourne Hockey Club. The sessions will be from 11am until 3pm and players are advised to bring a white and a dark shirt and socks, a drink and lunch. Meet time is 10am to ensure that all paperwork is completed prior to the start of the sessions. GB v Argentina Champions Trophy Final coverage

Great Britain have made it through to their first ever Champions Trophy Final tonight where they will face hosts, and World Number 2′s, Argentina. GB beat Germany 2-0 to claim their place, Argentina had to go the distance in their rather feisty semi final and the match against the Netherlands went to penalty shuttles, after golden goal extra time failed to break the 2-2 deadlock. Live coverage of the final will be shown on both BBC Red Button (Freeview & Satellite)  & Eurosport 2 from 11:00pm. There are also a couple of websites streaming the matches live and for free
