Ladies weekly round up – 17th September

It may have been a different week but Saturday saw the same outcome as last week…same results, it’s just the scores that changed. Both the 1s and 3s enjoyed wins whilst the 2s, 4s and 5s were runners up in their games.

1s kicked off their league campaign with a good 3-0 win over Crostyx at home (i bet they were cross when they lost), goals coming from Shrimpy, Miranda and player of the match Kay Finch, seems the new formation is working a treat. Some confusion over who was crowned donkey, my mole in the team couldn’t quite remember,  so if the lucky recipient would like to out themselves then you can do so in the comments below.

As last week, the 2s had a epic adventure to even get a whole team on the pitch. Nine nearly became eight as Janine was left behind at the club after playing for the 3s, then once she’d been picked up, she realised she’d left her stick behind, thankfully a back up stick was acquired..now for some more players. Royston kindly gave us one player to bring us up to ten…although it didn’t really help that much. We  held out for around 20 minutes before the floodgates sadly opened, just pick a number between 5 and 10 and you’ll get an idea of the score. Despite this there was some promising signs and if we can get 11 on a pitch, the skys the limit.

The 3s enjoyed another goal fest, 7-0 over Royston 2s,  thanks in part to a rather star studded line up that included Titch, Lizs C and G plus a special guest appearance from none other than Thomo (who doesn’t think she’ll be able to walk until wednesday).  5-0 at half time, Vegie did a Rooney and scored a hat trick, Janine, Jane Fixter, Titch and Liz Cobb knocking in the rest of the goals.

4s lost 4-0 to St Albans but again as with the 2s, some promising signs and an excellent team performace, special mentions for Sarah Edwards and Charlotte Skipp. No update as of yet as to how Captain Bryonys new astros fared in the game, i’m hoping to get a photo of them soon.

And the 5s had a tough game against a mixed St Albans team containing several players from much higher teams, so all credit to the girls for their performance against them, 7-0 loss but again some positives to take from the game.

So that’s a wrap for this week, always grateful for any input from your games, would be useful if teams could make sure they have one person who can feed back results/scorers and maybe just a brief summary of the game. You can email [email protected], post it on the Facebook Page www.facebook.com/broxbournehc or text me (email the webmaster address for number)

Enjoy your week and don’t forget, at the end of the day it’s not about the result, as long as hockey is the winner ;)
