The Ladies 1s have made their way through to the Quarter Finals of the Investec Trophy with a 5-1 won over Norwich, match report below: After 2 weeks of cancellations because of the cold weather. Broxbourne played Norwich city 1st team, who are in the equivalent league north division in the ladies trophy match. Replacement Astro & Lighting Upgrade

Thanks to England Hockeys’  Capital Investment Programme (CIP) we have been successful in securing a £50,000 grant  and along with a loan from Greene King which has now been signed off  – we are ready to start the pitch replacement and upgrade of the lights. A meeting between the pitch contractor, McArdle, the lighting contractor, CU Phosco, representatives from the Sports Club and the Project Management Company – MUGA UK has been arranged on 17th February. The project is due to start on 19th March 2012 and completion is scheduled for Friday 27th April – 6 weeks. The Astro will therefore be

GB v Argentina Champions Trophy Final coverage

Great Britain have made it through to their first ever Champions Trophy Final tonight where they will face hosts, and World Number 2′s, Argentina. GB beat Germany 2-0 to claim their place, Argentina had to go the distance in their rather feisty semi final and the match against the Netherlands went to penalty shuttles, after golden goal extra time failed to break the 2-2 deadlock. The Annual General Meeting of England Hockey will be held on Tuesday 20 March 2012 at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre, Bisham, Marlow, Bucks at 7:30 pm. Watch top class hockey on tv this weekend

Good news, this weekend sees a double dose of hockey on your tellybox. First up, starting on Saturday, the BBC will be showing the Women’s Champions Trophy from Rosario on the red button. Great Britain will be taking part in their last major tournament before London 2012 and have been drawn in the same pool as defending champions The Netherlands, who they play on Sunday.  Schedule for the pool games confirmed so far as follows: 28th January - 1800-2100 Live Hockey: GB v Japan, Champions Trophy 29th January – 1800-2100 Live Hockey: GB v Netherlands, Champions Trophy(finishes at 2000 on freeview)

Fantasy Badgers: still time to enter

Fantasy Badgers kicked off last week, but due to cancellations, a full program of games didn’t take place, meaning less points were available. So if you enter now, there’s still time to climb up that leaderboard and be in with a shout of claiming the Fantasy Badgers crown. With 31 teams entered so far, the prize fund (after fantastars fee to host the league) stands at £120. Prizes are 40% of fund for 1st (£48), 25%  for 2nd (£30) & 10% for 3rd(£12),  with the remaing 25% going to the club. The more teams entered, the higher the stakes. Full entry

Ladies New Year’s Fitness Training

The guys at Prism Fitness will be running some fitness sessions for the ladies section over the next five weeks. At the moment the plan would be for the session to start on Wednesday (11th) at 8:15pm in the gym at the Sports Club. Sessions will include circuits, x fit and boxing but all with a hockey specific fitness focus.  Minimum of 5, the gym  can take a maximim of 10 and price will be dependant on numbers but no more than £7 at the most.  If you’re feeling brave you can have a fitness test at the beginning and end
